Today's announcement will support the oil and gas industry's transition to clean, green energy.
Aberdeen Harbour Board welcomes the UK Government's announcement as the first G7 country to agree a landmark deal to support the oil and gas industry’s transition to clean, green energy – while supporting 40,000 jobs.
Michelle Handforth, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Harbour Board, said: "The UK Government's announcement of up to £16bn of investment in the oil and gas industry - particularly the inclusion of £10bn for hydrogen production and £3bn for carbon capture - supports our Green Port strategy. Aberdeen will play a vitally important role in the success and development of the offshore renewables, hydrogen and carbon capture industries as the oil and gas industry transitions to a net zero future.
"Our aim to bring prosperity to the North East of Scotland through investment opportunities and energy projects is quickly becoming a reality, and we will continue to work with our partners and stakeholders to ensure our experienced supply chain and world-class infrastructure are ready for the opportunities that lie ahead."
