Oil & Gas

Aberdeen Harbour plays a vital role in the global oil and gas industry, and has been Europe's premier port for the industry for more than 50 years.

Providing a unique combination of capacity, expertise, location and scale, Aberdeen is the marine home to an industry that demands excellence and quality in every aspect of operations.

Our HSEQ standards are second-to-none.  We are one of only two ports in Scotland which are part of a European environmental initiative, EcoPorts, and our accreditations include ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 (2018). These international benchmarks for occupational health and safety, and environmental management strengthen our position as one of the safest ports in the UK.

Find out how EcoPorts is transforming the environmental management of more than 100 ports in Europe.

We are also home to one of the most extensive and specialist energy supply chains in the world, and their support ensures that Aberdeen Harbour is a one-stop-shop for all of our stakeholders’ needs. Aberdeen Harbour frequently handles operations involving:

  • Dive Support Vessels
  • Platform Supply
  • Anchor Handling Vessels
  • Offshore Survey Vessels
  • Emergency Response Vessels

On the quayside, we can provide operational support for projects including large-scale equipment and cargo transfers and handling, and we can provide leasing options for warehousing and fabrication within the Harbour estate. The waterloo Multi Modal Terminal is connected to the main rail network, and the Harbour is quickly connected to the main trunk roads serving the Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Our port capability will be transformed with the completion of South Harbour, allowing us to handle more complex and large-scale operations for the offshore energy industry.  Our vessel LOA (length overall) will be almost doubled to more than 300 meters and water depth will be approximately 15 meters at highest tides.  The new facility will provide 125,000 square meters of laydown area and will incorporate large heavy-lift capacity areas of up to 15 tonnes per square meter.

The expanded port in Aberdeen – North and South Harbour – will provide customers with high quality, safe and professional services, which go above and beyond the needs of complex operations.
