BUSY PERIOD FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC AT ABERDEEN HARBOUR
Aberdeen Harbour is living up to its reputation as a regional resource and global gateway, with a particularly busy few days highlighting overseas trade.
Traffic includes bentonite arriving from Greece for the drilling industry and, for the paper industry, chalk from Denmark and pulp from the USA, Spain and Chile.
Exports include paper products for Russia, timber for Sweden and oilfield equipment for India and West Africa.
Aberdeen Harbour Board Chief Executive, Colin Parker, said: "International traffic, serving a range of industries, is a very important aspect of the
port's operations and continues to develop.
"For example, pulp and timber shipments are both increasing significantly, as are West African oil-related cargoes which not only include the export of
equipment, but also return of equipment via the harbour for servicing."
