ABERDEEN HARBOUR BOARD SUPPORTS ARTS EDUCATION IN ABERDEEN

Aberdeen Harbour Board is sponsoring the His Majesty’s Theatre (HMT) Education Programme, enabling HMT to provide local schools with help towards transport, tickets and workshops related to forthcoming shows.

Middlefield, Tullos, Maud, Fernielea and Glenbervie Primary Schools are the first to benefit from the Board’s support, with pupils attending workshops led by members of the Tracy Beaker company.

Colin Parker, Chief Executive, Aberdeen Harbour Board, said: “We’re delighted to further develop our involvement with schools by helping fund opportunities for pupils in the City and Shire to experience Theatre activities and performances.

The funding has come just in time for TRACY BEAKER GETS REAL, an exciting event for many of our local schools in the City and Shire. And HMT hopes this event is one we'll be able to replicate with future shows.

Education Manager Cate MacPherson said: “Our Education Programme is a key element within our strategy to attract new audiences to HMT - and enhance the experiences of those who already attend.

“The programme enables young people - and people of just about all ages - to interact and engage with the performing arts, and the practical experiences we offer can help build confidence, relationships and enhance communication skills, as well as providing a lot of fun and laughter!”

TRACY BEAKER GETS REAL runs at His Majesty’s Theatre from Tuesday May 22 – Saturday May 26. Tickets priced from £10.50 are available from Aberdeen Box Office on 01224 641122 or online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com.
