TRAFFIC ACCESS RETAINED IN ALTERNATIVE SECURITY MEASURES AT ABERDEEN HARBOUR'S POCRA QUAY
Aberdeen Harbour Board has secured Department for Transport approval for amended measures which will allow traffic to continue to pass along the rear of Pocra Quay.
Following the introduction of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, the Board is required by the Department's Transport Security Directorate (TRANSEC) to implement increased measures.
Harbour Board Chief Executive, Barclay Braithwaite, said: "The initial plan, developed with and approved by TRANSEC, included the closure of the whole of Pocra Quay.
"However, following our consultations with neighbouring Footdee residents and other interested parties, and the concern over the proposed closure, we presented an alternative to TRANSEC and have succeeded in obtaining its agreement. This will retain the present access arrangements at Pocra."
The security fencing will now be located mid-quay behind storage tanks, with traffic using the rear of the quay.
